Why use the Freezertech Horizontal Plate Freezer?
As with our verticals, we’re able to offer brand new Freezertech Horizontal Plate Freezers, built by our ex Jackstone Froster engineers, using the same original materials and equipment, or we also buy and sell used / second hand genuine Jackstone / Jackstone Froster horizontal plate freezers, fully refurbished and inspected by ourselves prior to dispatch.
Our horizontal plate freezer is engineered to be 100% compatible with all previous Jackstone horizontal plate freezers, matching and improving on the performance of the original design. All the specifications listed here are applicable for both new Freezertech and our used Jackstone Froster plate freezers. As well as this, we have also developed the horizontal plate freezer to now be available with fully stainless steel framework, for those who want a longer lasting, easy clean framework option on their horizontal plate freezers.
The Freezertech and Jackstone Horizontal Plate freezers consists of a number of extruded aluminium plates, mounted horizontally, through which refrigerant is passed. The product is placed in packaging or trays between the open freezer plates, which are then closed down onto the product to provide dual contact rapid plate freezing
Alongside the vertical, the horizontal plate freezer is one of our most popular options, as it enables the swift freezing of raw food products (via container trays) into blocks, and pre-packaged units. Directly, double sided contact freezing from the plates allows both quicker freezing times and reduced energy costs when compared to traditional air blast systems.
The Freezertech and Jackstone Horizontals are ideally suited to small space environments, where shop floor space is essential (using a larger working height), or low working heights are needed like in marine installations, whereas the vertical plate freezer has a relatively fixed working height.

Design and build specifications
- The Freezertech horizontal plate freezer is designed to match and improve on the original Jackstone Froster specifications – a tried and tested product over many years
- The framework is galvanised steel as standard, with stainless steel as an option
- All fixings, hoses and headers are stainless steel as standard. Hydraulic Cylinders are now also stainless steel as standard
- Optional anti roll bars (sea rails) available for marine installations
- The Freezertech horizontal can easily be placed in an insulated enclosure with doors front and rear, front only, or with electrically operated curtains
- All freezers are tested in accordance with BS4434
- The plate size range from 1550mm x 1120mm to 2450mm x 1227mm with the freezers ranging from a 2 station to a 18 station.

Insulated Enclosures & Cabinets
As well as supplying open plan horizontal plate freezers, we can supply them with insulated enclosures in 2 different types:
Curtains
Semi-insulated enclosure with front and rear fitted heavy duty curtains fitted.
These curtains can be either manually operated or via push button control with 24v electric motors incorporated into one control panel mounted on the side of the cabinet for easy and quick operation
Cabinet Doors
A full insulated enclosure with 75mm thick polyurethane & stainless steel double skinned construction, or finished inside and out with white acrylic coated food safe sheet steel.
Supplied with a fully fitted steel base ready to be bolted to the floor, complete with options for either front only or front and rear cabinet doors, along with inspection panel hatches for easy access for plate freezer maintenance.
